We have provided resources that you can use with your clients/prospective students to assist them in choosing an English language program in the U.S. that fits their needs and personalities. EnglishUSA members include intensive English, pathway and/or ESL support programs. These programs may be independent programs (or multi-site) often located in large cities or programs on university, college or community college campuses.
The U.S. government uses the term "English language training program" which is synonymous with the following:
- ESL (English as a second language) program
- IEP (Intensive English Program)
- ELI (English Language Institute)
- ELC (English Language Center)
Some programs are called "institutes" or "centers" or "programs" or they have a name such as Intensive Language Center. These terms are usually interchangeable and can be located on private or institution-governed sites. All programs often offer a variety of options.
