Looking for an English language program or courses or more information?

Our website offers resources for students who are interested in studying English in the United States, agencies who assist students with finding programs, as well as ELP professionals and other stakeholders looking for the most-up-to-date information about the industry. All EnglishUSA member programs meet the highest standards for quality education and professional integrity.

EnglishUSA members include intensive English, pathway and/or ESL support programs. These programs may be independent programs (or multi-site) often located in large cities or programs on university, college or community college campuses.

The U.S. government uses the term "English language training program" which is synonymous with the following:

  • ESL (English as a second language) program
  • IEP (Intensive English Program)
  • ELI (English Language Institute)
  • ELC (English Language Center)

Some programs are called "institutes" or "centers" or "programs." These terms are usually interchangeable and both private or institution-governed sites use similar names.  More information on different types can be found below.
