Dr. Hylen currently serves as the Chair of the School of Education and Music/Associate Professor at Southern Wesleyan University. In addition to Southern Wesleyan, Dr. Hylen served as a professor at Louisiana State University – Shreveport and Asbury University in Kentucky. Prior to joining the higher education ranks, he enjoyed a 28-year career as aq public and private school educator.   His most extensive work was as an alternative high school principal for students with emotional disorders and behavior problems.  He has an earned Ph.D. from the University of Missouri – St. Louis with a specific emphasis on At-Risk Students and Character Education.
