Jackie McCafferty
Director, Center for American Language & Culture at Temple University
Jackie has over 25 years of experience in international education with responsibilities ranging from teaching ESL and EFL, teacher training, curriculum development, IEP program administration, international recruitment, enrollment and partnership development. Currently, Jackie is Director of the Center for American Language & Culture at Temple University where she oversees non-credit programming for international students and partners. Prior to coming to Temple, she was Director of the International Center at Rowan University in New Jersey. Jackie earned her bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College, master’s degree from Temple University, and did her doctoral studies at the University of Pennsylvania. She served on the board of EnglishUSA from 2018-2024. Prior to discovering the field of TESOL, Jackie spent years as a social worker in North Philadelphia and traveled the world where she worked on community building projects in Botswana, Africa; taught English in Spain and Mexico; bartended in London England; and, traveled multiple times to Cuba where she conducted research on the education system. She lives in Flourtown, Pennsylvania with her 18-year-old son and their dog, Murphy and cat, Snowy.
