Exploring New Horizons: Evolving Role of English Language Programs

EnglishUSA is committed to standing with its members, affiliates, volunteer leaders, industry partners, and other stakeholders to provide the resources and support you need, when you need them.  We are continually engaging stakeholders around recent trends and hot topics in the industry.  Below is a recap of activities and benefits along with a look ahead to the future.

 

Professional Development Opportunities

Our professional development offerings are open to all individuals affiliated with EnglishUSA membership. We held over 35 webinars, workshops, ZoomArounds, conferences and other professional development opportunities this past year, reflecting current best practices in the field. Member ideas and resources inform these offerings. Record attendance across multiple formats covered timely topics including:

  • Beyond Book Club: AI Discussions

  • ELP DSO Workshop Series

Advocacy Efforts

EnglishUSA promotes the member interests of our stakeholders and monitors public policy relevant to the role English language programs have in the larger scope of international education.  This year, we:

  • Monitoring of association level calls-to-action from the Alliance, Presidents’ Alliance, and ACE
  • Convening and leading ELPAC quarterly meetings
  • Holding Annual Conference (aka Stakeholders) September 26-27, 2024 Alexandria, VA
  • Distributing 2nd year of Annual EnglishUSA Market Report on industry to guide advocacy efforts
  • Coordinating Certified Trade Mission to Colombia and Mexico with 25 ELPs across 16 states

Program Visibility

EnglishUSA represents the entire industry, although its members enjoy additional promotion of their programs, products, and services. We promote the association and its members through:

  • Active participation and EnglishUSA member representation at over 15 significant events including: ICEF, GAELA, PIE North America, AIRC, UCIEP, TESOL, and NAFSA
  • Online and printed member directories and shared QR code
  • Associate member products and services that support English language programs
  • Market Development Cooperator Program through 2025 with funding from the Department of Commerce that supports expansion of EnglishUSA activities, such as:
